Susan Jacoby's The Age of American Unreason is a fascinating examination of contemporary American history and culture. It is Jacoby's contention that major factions of modern American society tend toward a rejection of America’s heritage of Enlightenment reason and even go so far as to reject modern science and knowledge. A provocative work, The Age of American Unreason is sure to stir fierce debate. Susan Jacoby is the author of eight books, a frequent contributor to national magazines and newspapers, and the recipient of numerous awards, including a 2001 appointment as a fellow of the New York Public Library’s Center for Scholars and Writers. She is a panelist for On Faith, a blog published by The Washington Post and Newsweek. Jacoby is also program director of the Center for Inquiry-New York City, a rationalist think tank with offices in Lower Manhattan.
